Mr. Logic: (Q) - How much stock should I put in the “answers” and “messages” that come to me in dreams? Last night I dreamt about drinking with prostitutes in a sleazy bar somewhere in the Balkans. I was lumbered with a particularly ugly one, but I bought her a drink just the same.
Mr Dream: (A) – how much stock? that depends on what YOUR gut tells you. my myth tells me there are 3 kinds of dreams: daily, karmic, and companion, daily dreams arent dreams that happen daily, ‘daily’ means they consist of experiences, realizations and sub-conscious things you pick up along the way during your day. movies you saw, poems you read, things people said to you. these kind of dreams are ‘just’ dreams. karmic dreams are dreams that consist of the same things daily dreams are made of but they touch edges with people places and things you feel you’ve never seen before when once you awaken. things that have to do with past lives, past issues, trauma, etc. in the dream you may meet someone who you have known for many years and are good friends with and yet you find when you awaken you have no idea who that person was and wonder why in your dream they were so familiar. these dreams are the ones to pay close attention to, they are the reason a dream journal is often adviced. call it a karmic compass. the 3rd kind of dream i call ‘companion’ dreams. they consist of a constant third party perspective, you are either ‘floating’ bodiless above what is taking place in the dream or you are completely removed from the situation and are watching people and things happen that seem to be very important yet you can’t identify or blend yourself with the experience. these are the dreams we have most seldom, and for me point to the re-accuring fact that presents itself once we ‘awaken’ that we are NOT our bodies, minds or emotions, but something invisible, something bornless and formless.
Mr. Logic: (Q) - Describe the mental state(s) of awareness that characterise(s) most of your waking hours.
Mr. Dream: (A) - ummmm, um, *why is the dumbest question always the hardest?* wtf. dooood, i have no feckin idea. my CURRENT “mental” state of awareness, for the past several days has been what we call “Void-Mind.” a state of Mind where all is obvious and ‘clarity’ is WHAT you are yet there is no emotion, no drive, no URGE. in this state you are aware of the infinite potential yet it seems you have no ability to DO anything with it.
Mr. Logic: (Q) – How has your attitude towards women changed in the last 12 months? six months? month? week?
Mr. Dream: (A) - ya feckin wee bastard. ok. *sigh* no holds barred right? shite. *foot in mouth* i think my first response would be that it hasn’t changed, but i know better, so let me think on it… ok, well, what comes to mind is something my Grandfather used to always tell me: “your wife is your wife, not your best friend. you can’t tell a woman everything thats in your heart or on your mind, it scares them and they don’t really want to know anyway.” i wrestled with that forever, especially since my mother’s father was my favorite person in our fucked up family. the only one i felt i could really trust and the one i looked up to. so, i’ve come to find the balance in that statement. it’s like the statement: “you are nothing, you don’t exist.” it’s true, and because it is true, it is also equally un-true. i’m not sure i can ellaborate much more on this, seeing that my vocabulary limits my ability to express what i have come to ‘see.’
Mr. Logic: (Q) – How can a hair cut affect one’s spiritual well-being? Describe what it has done for yours? What about the hair on the rest of ones body?
Mr. Dream: (A) - lol. um, for ME… from MY experience, the more hair i have on my head the less light my pineal gland has access to. and so at times of crisis and change when i really need to ‘burst forth’ i shave my head. as far as the whole body thing goes, i’m not sure.
Mr. Logic: (Q) - What is your current opinion on the music industry? Has cynicism finally triumphed? Personally I think it has and that this is the culmination of a process of industry co-option of the genuine current of inspired creativity that ran through popular music during the era of mass communication.
Mr. Dream: (A) – my opinion on the music industry? well, to be absolutely honest, and this may surprise you, but i don’t have one. why? because despite what you and other people may think of me, i truely know nothing of it’s true inner-workings. and quite honestly, have never cared. i make music to make music. i told you before, for me it’s simply therapy.
Mr. Logic: (Q) – Do you think the prevalence of pornography is part of a wider commodification and objectification of the sexual act and not just as feminists claim of women? Pornography by bringing human intimacy under the harsh glare of the TV lights and reducing sex as far as possible to its superficial visual aspects becomes effectively a means of dis-enchantment and rejection of the sacred aspects of sexuality. In the end it seems to me just another facet of a culture that aims to package and sell off as much of human experience as it can; an outgrowth of the scientific drive to classify and rationally comprehend everything — which was in itself hamstrung by quantum theory, godels incompleteness, etc.
Mr. Dream: (A) – wow, great question. i have to agree with your statement: “Pornography by bringing human intimacy under the harsh glare of the TV lights and reducing sex as far as possible to its superficial visual aspects becomes effectively a means of dis-enchantment and rejection of the sacred aspects of sexuality.” - now i feel also i have to clarify that YES, Dr. Tedley and i make some very very ‘pornographic’ music, and some of it twisted beyond any halfway acceptable boundries, and we do it in the name of Chaos, CRISIS for CHANGE, (also see: http://excrement.wordpress.com/2009/04/08/040809-1027am-the-wonder-and-joy-of-the-darkside/ ) kinda thing, our whole: “art is meant to be disturbing” ideal. and we’ve often wondered if in some ass-backwards way we are condoning certain perversities, but in the end, being true Discordians, we say ‘fuck it, we’re just having fun.’ – ‘and no one got hurt, so… what the hell. we’re insane.’
Mr. Logic: (Q) - List your greatest vices as of today.
Mr. Dream: (A) - making excuses for the ones i love, clove cigarettes, espresso, taking on others suffering as my own, and falling into NOT being ME, but trying to meld myself into something my companion thinks i should be.
and with that….
we have our first Sunday Q&A w/ Mr. Logic and Mr. Dream.
feel free to comment and even ask questions or give answers(opinions) of your own.
